Ancient River Civilization

Why did the first civilization of India develop around the Indus River?

You guessed it; fertile land for farming! The Indus River Valley flooded, leaving a trail of fertile land in its wake. This helped small villages sprout in this valley. It flooded letting villages to become abundant in the Indus River Valley. These small villages eventually led to huge civilizations, and it was only because of the Indus River. Also, monsoons caused rain and hurricanes to happen, causing the crops to grow greatly because of all the water.

How does this remind you of Egypt?

This reminds us of Egypt, because the Indus River flooded, just like the Nile. The Nile flooded, leaving fertile land in its wake, just like the Indus River. The Nile left silt, as well, like the Indus River. This silt provided fertile land for crops to grow abundantly. India grew from a small village, just like Egypt grew from the Nile.

How does this remind you of Mesopotamia?

This reminds us of Mesopotamia because, the Indus River also let irrigation to occur in India, letting fertile land occur as well. This is just like Mesopotamia, because the Tigris and Euphrates River let irrigation occur as well. This let fertile land sprout, just like the Nile and Indus River.
